My recommendation would be to query the fine folks at ONE/Northwest; their mission is to deliver technology to involve and inform people in protecting the environment..

Now for a caveat: they cover the Pacific Northwest, so an organization in Hawaii is almost certainly outside their range for hands-on help. However, they are very generous about doing what they can for those outside their geographic area - moreover they are very conversant with organizations and resources that are beyond their region.
My suggestion would be to talk to Jon Stahl or Dean Ericksen, since I know them through the Circuit Rider movement, and have firsthand experience of how helpful they can be.
