Today is Beth Kanter's 51st birthday, and she's taking this opportunity to raise money online for The Sharing Foundation. Her goal is to persuade 51 people to give $10.00 each.
The conduit that she prefers is Global Giving, so I sent them ten bucks. But, as many people know, my heart belongs to Changing The Present, so once I ascertained that I could also make a donation to the Sharing Foundation through CTP on Facebook, I decided to do that too!
As I've previously mentioned, I'm quite neurotic on the topic of mandatory gift-giving. I don't think I could bring myself to make a pitch for a cause on the grounds that anyone owes me a present. Too shy in that respect! (However, I do maintain a gift registry on Changing The Present, just in case anyone spontaneously inquires about what I'd like.) At the same time, I admire Beth for what she's doing, and am happy to make a donation.
