It can be difficult to find a great product manager. It just so happens that Kintera has one for Fundware, and her name is Holly Scheuble.
As I've previously mentioned, I'm working with Third Sector New England to help them find an accounting application that can handle the complexity of fiscal sponsorship on a large scale. TSNE is currently using Fundware, and it's a struggle to figure out whether its security and integration problems can be overcome.
Before we encountered Holly, I had a lot of trouble getting answers, but then my buddy Robert Weiner turned out to know someone at Kintera who knew someone who worked with Holly. When we talked to Holly, it was clear that she got it, and was committed to making the situation better.
Time will tell whether Kintera can eliminate the technical barriers to using Fundware as my esteemed client needs to use it. But it won't be for lack of understanding and effort on Holly's part, and I want to pay tribute to that.
Mark Twain wrote that "the difference between the right word and the almost right word is really a large matter - it's the difference between a lightning bug and the lightning." The difference between a superlative product manager and a mediocre one is of the same proportions. Holly Scheuble is superlative.
