I'm having a wonderful time exploring the virtual universe of Second Life, and one thing I enjoy is seeing how friends and colleagues from Real Life present themselves in virtual reality. I particularly relish the way that Beth Kanter has garbed herself in traditional Cambodian garments, and how Susan Tenby has donned a cat's ears and tail.
My own perverse impulse in this fantasy world is to create an avatar that actually looks and dresses like I do. Here's a snapshot of that avatar, Deborah Replacement, just for fun. It's surprisingly difficult to emulate my mundane self. I still don't have the hair right - but that's ok, because I can never get my hair right in Real Life either.
