"Learning IT at the expense of others" should be the title of your blog. Or maybe, "making sure non-profits stay non-profits".... I own the "hands on technology" company you reference in your blog. Not only are you mis-informed. You are ill-equipped for something as easy as the tiny little MX record change you reference you your overstated and wordy dissertation which is so full of garbage I couldn't stop laughing as I read it. This "Big Day" as you so eloquently put it, was quite simply, an MX change in DNS, and client reconfiguration for the new mail server. MX stands for mail-exchanger, DNS is domain name service, I'm telling you this because it is obvious that you DO NOT KNOW. In the real IT world this takes place late day on Friday and only takes about 15 minutes to accomplish. We probably do 15 of these every week without incident. We had the pleasure of your "company" throughout this process which made things a bit more interesting. Your first lesson here should be NEVER TRY TO COORDINATE OR CONSULT ON SOMETHING YOU ARE IGNORANT ABOUT. lesson 2 is DO NOT BRING AN ENTERPRISE COORDINATION SCHEME TO A NON-ENTERPRISE ENVIRONMENT. and finally, lesson 3 VERY CAREFULLY SELECT (USING SOMEONE WITH REFERRALS) ISP'S , MAIL-HOSTING , AND WEB HOSTING COMPANIES. If you do this kind of thing won't happen to you. This is a very simple process , don't overcomplicate it.
