It's really helpful to your online outreach strategy if you're able to ascertain who links to your
organization's web pages. This is not just a matter of nonprofit narcissism; you need to know whether web surfers are being referred to your site by reputable sources.
It's pretty difficult to force someone to remove
a link to your web site - but on the other hand, with a meta-search engine such as
TalkDigger, it's really easy to send words of thanks to colleagues and friends
who mention you accurately and favorably.
Your first step is to go to the Talk Digger home page, and enter
your nonprofit's URL or domain name in the field under the
words "Who's talking about it?" Click on "Dig it!"
and then wait for your results.
After a few seconds, you will see
a range of reports from Icerocket, Technorati, Bloglines, Blogpulse,
PubSub, Feedster, Blogdigger, MSN Search, and Google. It
certainly is interesting to see that each of these tools that TalkDigger has queried provides very different report on who is linking to your web site.
Many thanks are due to
Frédérick Giasson, who created this tool and has made it available free of charge to all users.
