As I've previously mentioned in my blog, I'm convinced that the future for nonprofits lies in aggregations of diverse blogs that focus on a mission or theme, rather than showcasing a single organization or point of view.  In other words, if you're investing in the blogmarket, you shouldn't bet on my blog - you should bet on web sites such as Global Voices Online.

Under the able leadership of Rebecca MacKinnon and Ethan Zuckerman, the web site's layout has been updated, while the guiding principle remains in place. According the Global Voices Online home page:

Global Voices is an international effort to diversify the conversation taking place online by involving speakers from around the world, and developing tools, institutions and relationships to help make these voices heard.

It's easy to select a country or region that interests you, and drill down into a collection of blogs maintained by citizen journalists.  Resources, translations, and bridge blogs are constantly being added to help bring it all together.  It's easy to see how this can contribute to values that most of us uphold:  human rights, democracy, and cross-cultural understanding.

I strongly encourage nonprofit professionals to explore Global Voices Online, not only for new insights about international issues, but also for an ongoing tutorial in creating, compiling, and presenting online content that serves your mission.
